Backbone Celebrates May Day in Baltimore

05/08/2010

balitmore380px Last Month a team of Backbone artists traveled to Baltimore to help design and build imagery for our wonderful allies, United Workers.
Last weekend Backbone returned to help United Workers implement their May 1st Our Harbor Day. A day of celebratory participation plays and processions culminated in the appearance of Harriet Tubman who led the final March for Human Rights to Baltimore's Inner Harbor, where United Workers is organizing a Human Rights Zone. Check out the inspiring photos, video, and blogs linked to below.

Here's Bill's facebook post after along day of marching and drumming: "Friends - I just spent an AMAZING day with what may be the most impressive human rights organization in the country, Baltimore's United Workers. Backbone Campaign brought a couple artists to B'More last month to work on imagery etc. for today's event. What THEY did today, and DO every day blows my mind. Kevin's blog exemplifies the quality and power of what this community of people are doing together. Read how this 21 year old guy articulates an analysis that is both intellectually sound, rooted in a heartfelt dignity and commitment to social transformation."
