Synopsis:
Today we avoided a giant give-away to Wall Street due to opposition from the right and the left. We opposed it because it had no guarantees to protect Main Street, nor measures to provide that those who profited from excesses of the finance industry pay the bill for their folly. The potential of realizing progressive priorities in the coming administration are at risk unless Congress finds new income sources to pay for any rescue of Wall Street. AND NOW is the time when we have the most leverage to endure that the rescue benefit. Here are a few ways to do just that, thanks to Chuck Collins and other friends at the Institute for Policy Studies.
