We recently hosted an extremely informative and inspiring call with Byllye Avery (bio) a Backbone Cabinet nominee for Health and Human Services (HHS). Fresh from a weekend of what they termed "Sister Circles" in New Orleans, she and colleague Eleanor Hinton Hoytt (Director, Black Women's Health Imperative) guided us through the complexities of our health care crisis, grounded in the day to day lives of African American women. We urge you to listen to this conversation and press your representatives to consider health care a human right and work for a single payer universal health care in the U.S.
