Dr. Steffie Woolhandler is an associate professor at Harvard Medical School and co-founder of Physicians for a National Health Program (aka PNHP). PNHP is a non-profit research and education organization of 15,000 physicians, medical students and health professionals who advocate for single-payer national health insurance.

Currently over 47 million Americans are uninsured. During our Conversation with Dr. Woolhandler we discussed why the market-based health care delivery system is failing so badly, and how a single-payer solution would replace the private health insurance industry by expanding Medicare to cover all Americans.

With none of the Presidential candidates offering such a bold solution, this conversation emboldened listeners by raising their expectations, and preparing them to challenge candidates and Congress alike.
